When is enough, enough when it comes to lighting? Why can’t I just set my tank out in the sun and put a blue filter over it? Lol
I once put 4 T5’s over a 60 gallon tank and it hurt my eyes to look at it. Some folks seem like they must be running at 900 par. Isn’t it considered normal to put the equivalent of 2 x 400w MH over 75 gallon tank, or would that not be enough? Frankly, I don’t find it enjoyable to look at something that bright.
If sps require 10w of light per gallon, call me a wimp, but I’m just going to grow softies.

LEDs from what I know break that 10w per gallon rule. I have 84 watts over a 100g aquarium. Hammer coral grow very well.
I think these high par numbers is to max colors.
