Idk why but I can't keep any other fish just fine. But literally any type of tang will die within 48 hrs. My parameters are ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 15ish
Dkh 12
Salinty 1.024
I had a sailfin the longest out of all of the tangs we tried . But he died with the other 2 we had just gotten they didn't even make it 3 days. The sailfin is the only one who made it a couple weeks. They have never displayed any symptoms of ick or any other disease and had no signs after death either or anythingwrong at all I could see. . All of them ate fine. They would just randomly die. The first time they all died together. So we tried some from different shops thinking it was a bad fish. But no luck. Any ideas.

are you introducing them one at a time or all at the same time?

What are they dying from? disease? aggression? starvation? suicide? (jumping)

Are they eating? Are they displaying a wired swim pattern?

If you want to nail this down, we need a lot more information. The questions above and also were they qt'd or treated anywhere? Where did you get them from? Other animals in the tank?

No they eat and acted completely normal. I added 3 the first time. Hippo. Pb tang. Pb tang. They all died 48 hrs. Later at the same time. After that I added one of each and they died about 48 hrs later as well. They all ate swam around . Acted normal no sign of illness disease.

How long has your systeme been running?
Do you have other Fish?
How large is the system?
Do you have corals? if so , what kind and how long have you had them?

Are they all coming from the same source and how small are they.
I can't think of anything but the manner in which they were caught and transported. How long were they in the LFS before you bought them.
I'm thinking cyanide poisoning, but that's just a guess

No I've tried 4 different places to buy them from. Theybjave ranged from 2 inches to 5. Some of them wherever the lfs for weeks before I got them. The others idk. I'm using tap water would that affect them. All my parameters are in line with the requirements for them. O ammonia. 0 nitrite. 20 nitrates. Dkh is 12. What's cyanide poisoning. Wouldn't that kill everyone. I've got fox faces gobies mandarins clown fish. Bunch of other live forms. I can buy one and within 48hrs. Any type of tang will die. But I can buy any other fish and they will be 100% ok

You might have other things in your water parameters that you haven’t tested for seeing how you use tap water. Do you use any water conditioner for your tap water? Do you temp acclimate and drip acclimate your fish? Or do you perform a qt for 30-90 days?

Some collectors use cyanide to stun the fish as they collect them and the long term affect kills them.

Your case is really strange, some of my hardiest fish have been tangs. The two I have now were bought from a crappy run LFS in rough shape and they both made it.

I don't think your tap water is the best for a reef tank but I wouldn't think that it would kill your fish in 2 days. Tap water, depending on what it contains could be hard on corals but I wouldn't think it would really hurt your fish considering it didn't bother your other tank inhabitants.

I am really pressed to give you any advice, might just be really bad luck with sick fish.

I wish you luck going forward, I know the Tang attraction, I wouldn't have a tank without them.

What do you feed your fish? Are you dosing to the tank? If so what are you dosing?

few thoughts for me from reading this, possible tank as still new, have a second source check your ammonia level for you! also is you water oxygenated well? do you have a skimmer in your sump? do you have a sump? it looks like hardier fish do ok in your tank, but tangs are slightly more sensitive. did any of them looked pale days before they died? any of them had white spots on their body like small grain of salt (ick)
