.....My PH that is . I know I know , another PH question .

My PH hovers around 7.8 , highest I have ever seen it is 7.9 . I have tried opening windows , skimmer air intake outside , co2 scrubber on input . Nothing seems to help .

Temp :77
Alk: 8.6-8.9
Calcium :440
SG:35

I am measuring PH with a Milwaukee PH controller . Calibrated to 4.0 and 7.0

Any suggestions ? Should I even worry about it ?

Use kalkwasser in top off. Watch alkalinity and corals and don't worry about 7.8 ph

Calibrate with 7.0 and 10.0

I will order some 10.0 solution

It could be better but I wouldn't chase it.
How do the corals look?

Corals look okay , i have lost some test SPS but i attribute that to a young tank and fluctuating parameters

Take a glass of tank water and measure pH. Move the water to outside of the house and aerate it for 20 minutes then measure pH again. Tell us what you find.

I did this , no noticeable change in pH

I have very little coral demand right now . Even when i run very small amounts of kalk in my ATO it pushes the Alk up .

Given your Alk level and that outside air aeration did not raise pH, I'm thinking it is pH probe bias which will clear up once you calibrate with pH 10 and 7 buffers.

Welcome to my world and the world of many others Read Randy's article on pH. before anything else.....Consider running higher Alk as it has helped me although it takes more additive to maintain. I run 3.7 meq/l which is about 10 Dkh I think.... and with a scrubber I hold pH at about 8.0 at the absolute best....as soon as the Sodalime starts to go mauve it drops to 7.9 but I very rationally refuse to replace it for a little while after that on cost grounds. Running Alk a little higher could help you...see Randy's graphs .

What time of the day are you testing it. If the lights have been off all night it will be lower in the morning than say in the evening. Mine fluctuates from 7.8 to 8.15 daily and my corals are all fine.

He has the Milwaukee Ph controller. It gives a digital Ph reading constantly. They're frigin awesome! I have the monitor version that just reads, but the controller has sockets for dosing when out of range.
