I did it I caved into getting Hanna Checkers excited for the re-release of the Magnesium one I’ll definitely be getting that one too! Does anyone need any Salifert test kits or a refractometer etc.? I will be listing some things in the marketplace.

I absolutely love the checkers and they are my go-to...but I kept my old school test kits as a backup Incase I see something wonky. Just a thought.

@AydenLincoln I agree with @chrisv might be wise to hang on to the old school tests. I use both to keep myself sane.

User friendly and trustworthy is the best I can say about them. You didnt cave- just made a wise decision.
You could have gotten a deal at RAP.

Keep the sailfert kits as a backup and definitely keep the refractometer. I calibrate my icecap refractometer often enough, but I always want something to cross check salinity

Whatever works for you... I still suggest not to use the apex as a single primary point for salinity checking or any electronic salinity tester for that matter. They tend to drift on calibration, bad.

I noticed that lol it doesn’t replace measuring salinity by hand but I do hope the little advice I got helps.

tropic marine hydrometer outcompetes all refractometers. i would never go back to a refractometer to be honest!

I would definitely keep my old kits just in case the hanna gives you a reading you don’t feel is right so you can check it against another test to verify the result.

I buy water from my LFS and I have a Hanna Checker and Hydrometer.

It’s just the reagent and it’s currently in the process of being made so it’s supposed to be around 6-8 weeks. Meaning all currently available Magnesium checkers have the bad reagents but the checker is fine.
