My apex has alerted me this morning that my salinity has gone below 1023
Luckily my husband was home so I asked him to have a look.
Turns out my ATO has moved and it just kept filling- until of course
It cut off.

My salinity is at 1023 from 1025.
He’s done a small water change with emergency salt water., I’m not convinced it’ll make much of a difference.

Will everyone/everything be ok?
I could cry right now.
Please help

Emma

Your best bet right now is to not make a huge adjustment. Another huge stability swing could cause a crash.

Just topoff with saltwater for a while till your salinity comes back up to normal.
We changed a small amount of water (3litres) it’s a nano 30 litre tank. removed the ATO for now, until the salinity comes back up?

No don't remove the ATO, just fill up the bucket you use for the ATO with your normal 1.025 - 1.026 saltwater. Let it top off like normal for a day or so, and just check salinity. When it comes back up to normal, refill your ATO with RO/DI.

Ok will do.
Will anything else help?
Thanks

You'll be fine, don't sweat it.

I had the same thing happen a few years back except mine dropped as low as 1.019. Topped up with saltwater for a couple days, and everything was fine.

Ah thank goodness. Apex is the best purchase I’ve made this year without a doubt!
It’s a nano 30 litre (8g). So I’ve not much room for error.
Hope all will be ok and like all of
you guys, I’ve put so much time and effort into the hobby, it’s heartbreaking when/ if goes it goes ‘wrong’

Thanks again

had this happend to me and in my 12g nano cube my ato dumped 5 g of water -.- once everything was fixed everything made a recovery. now I have my ato only turn on for 1 minute twice a day

How could I adjust my ATO to do the same?
I’ve the Tunze ATO.

That's not too bad of a drop, relatively speaking. I'd get it back to normal levels slowly though. Your livestock should recover.

Was your sensor moved or where you getting a siphon because the fill hose was lower than the ATO reservoir water level?? Mine would siphon a little bit after running when I filled my bucket. Once I moved my fill tube higher it was ok.

Now you mention it......
I did notice that the hose was practically in the water, so that’s possible I guess.

Thanks

I feed mine into a small PVC pipe I have in the sump water that I have zipped tied to a holder on my sump. That way it is very much higher than the water level and the fresh water going will not splash around.

Great idea! I’ll give that one a go.
Thanks
