I just tested my tank and I have some questions on my numbers
Ammo-0
Nitrate-40
Nitrite-0
Phosphates-0
High range ph-8.0
Ca-440
Kh-196.9

Oops..yes I ment are my numbers okay..if not what should I do

usually simple tank maintenance will correct nitrates that are not to far out of line such as yours.. Try more frequent water changes, don't over feed, try to keep detritus at a minimum, keep pre filters clean and clean or remove any foam blocks from your sump

It's curious that your phosphate reading is "zero" when nitrate is so high. Are you using a phosphate reducer like RowaPhos or something?

Not currently...I just did a 20% water change

Ashley, what brand of test kits are you using?

It is probably just that the phosphate kit being used isn't sensitive enough to accurately detect say 0.05 ppm phosphate.

You see, that's what I'm getting at. I don't believe that phosphate is "zero" when nitrate is that high. Since s/he's not using GFO and nitrate is 40 ppm (assuming that kit is relatively accurate), I would think phosphate is probably more in he 0.1-0.3 ppm range. I would hazard a guess that phosphate is also probably an issue.
