What a great day in my fish world - last Monday, I was cleaning my tank. It was a day long event, with re-arranging my rocks, removing a TON of hair algae including scrubbing rocks, and a water change. There was a large tock with lots of hidey-holes that I moved to my DT from the QT (no chemicals, no disease in the QT). At the end of the day when the water had cleared up and everything was looking great, my plan was to introduce my watchman goby & tailspot blenny that had been in my QT. I caught the goby, but the blenny was nowhere to be found. I searched and searched - the tank, the floor, the backyard. It was nowhere. I have been upset about it all week, wondering what I had done wrong and how I could have lost a fish. I thought it had jumped and a cat found it first, or that it was hiding in the rock that I moved and was actually in the DT. I watched both tanks all week. Fast forward to today - draining the QT to do some maintenance and start it back up again. I siphoned out all the water except for maybe 1/4 inch at the bottom. I was scraping together all the bits of gravel at the bottom, when what to my wondering eyes should appear but a tailspot blenny! (couldn't figure out a good rhyme lol) It was flopping all around and definitely alive! The sides and bottom of the tank are painted black so it blended right in. Happy ending - the blenny is quite content in the DT, swimming around and nipping at all the algae that I missed last Monday. What a good feeling that only another fish-lover could appreciate!

Awesome!

I almost lost my bicolor blenny during tank transfer about a year ago -- he was freaked out and wouldn't come out of a hole no matter what I did.
Had to move the rock (twice) with him hiding in the hole,,, then he went for a jump attempt in the new tank.
Luckily hit something and fell back in -- all good a year later,,, but it was a close call.
