I didn't put this fish in my tank...

I found a new fish in my tank a couple weeks ago that I did not add. I have only added a green Chromis and hi fin goby, so my guess is it came on a coral that I added.

Now that it's getting bigger I'm trying to identify what it is and see if I will be able to keep it in my 28g tank. I'll try to take a better picture but my phone camera hasn't been doing well at focusing on it.

For sure a killifish - did you add live rock, sand, chaeto to your tank? This happened just recently to someone else on the forum. They had a rainwater killi.

I did add some Chaeto recently. Rainwater killifish does look like what I have. Time to do some research, anything I should know about them?

Killifish can hatch from eggs. You can actually get some species mail order in a little bit of dirt. Maybe somehow an egg was on something you added?

I don’t think they’d harm any inverts or have special care requirements. Not sure if pure salt water (vs brackish) would be bad over time but my guess is that it will be fine. But I have never kept one.

That’s really cool, Killifish are really easy too care for and don’t necessarily harm anything. They’re pretty much livebearers that lay eggs.
