so I get up early for work and I looked into my tank like I always do and spotted a snail I don’t remember adding can anyone please tell me what it is

Looks like a Well-Ribbed Dove Snail. Good algea eater.

I'm thinking whelk as well. Probably not a good one.

Looks to me like it may be a "Smoky Goblet" snail, Pollia fumosa - it's in the whelk Superfamily (Buccinoidea), but not the "true whelk" Family (Buccinidae); Nassarius snails (Family Nassariidae) and Dove snails (Family Columbellidae) are in the same Superfamily.

If it is a Smoky Goblet snail, then it is a mollusk (snails, bivalves, etc.) predator, so it may eat your other snails.

Its a whelk and often acquired as a hitchhiker. Its rare or ever you will see one for sale due to potential aggression and issues

Looks like the whelk snail that ate two of my bumble bee snails. Hitch hiker as well. It is in snail heaven but it’s memory lives as one of my hermits chose it’s empty shell as home.
