I just got my tank up and running and it cycled and I got my first fish this past Saturday. A Six Line Wrasse, he was doing great, exploring everywhere and eating like a pig. Well today I was cleaning my filter, Its a Fluval 306, and I must of spooked the wrasse or something. Anyway somehow he ended up inside the Fluval 306! He must of went down the pipe or something. He was in there about 20 mins when I was cleaning the glass. I went to dump the old water in the filter out, and I seen the little wrasse in the bottom. I panicked and ran back to the tank and dumped him in. He went right into a hole in a rock, and has been hiding ever since about an hour now. Im so upset with myself, I really hope I didnt traumatize him. I dont want him to die because of me.

First of all you are not an idiot you can make yourself feel better by going to the question of the day and post something embarrassing you have done while reefing I’m pretty sure he will be alright if you try to get him out and feed him

Things like that happen! Just a couple of weeks ago my wife killed like $50 of coral by doing a fresh water dip on them instead of a saltwater dip. We all learn from our mistakes!

And not that long ago my dad killed a coral but cutting it and all the polyps off just by trying to get the coral of the frag plug

He will most likely be ok. Just a little freaked from the experience I would bet.
Got to keep an eye on them while doing maintenance. Especially wrasses. I have had one jump during a water change and not noticed. Stuff happens.

Don't be hard on yourself, things happen for whatever reason. It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong anyway, it just happened. I am sure the wrasse will come out in time. Agree with above, you do need to keep an eye on wrasses as they do spoke easily. I had a beautiful Blue Flasher wrasse in QT, came home one day and I couldn't find it in the tank. I eventually found it on the floor and I have no clue how it got there to this day as I do cover the tanks. Things happen.

I had my sister helping me do a water change on Sunday, and she dropped a rock she was cleaning on my 6-line... It didn't make it.

I'm sure he'll be fine. Don't beat yourself up, we all make mistakes. I've kept all sorts of different wildlife over the years and made mistakes along the way. Heck, I made one with my reef tank just last night. I soaked some reef roids in reef complete like I normally do, but I forgot to mix it up with tank water before I fed it. I blasted my corals with a concentrated mix with no pumps on and let it sit on them for about 5 mins before I realized what I did and turned on the pumps. They were all still very ticked off this morning, but they'll get over it (I hope, maybe they'll remember and feign issues so I spend money on stuff I don't need.) Things happen (albeit sometimes with expensive consequences) but all you can do is learn and move on. Every time you learn something you're filling a void where you didn't have the knowledge previously. That either comes from making a mistake and learning the right way to do it next time, or knowing you don't know what you're doing and researching like a crazy person - then still making a mistake and realizing there was still a better way to do something.

Well, Im sda to say he didnt make it :( I got a new one yesterday along with a royal gramma, and he new 6 line dosent see as bold as the other. hes hiding alot, and hes scared of the gramma. gramma eating like a pig and 6 line is shy. will he come around? im still mad at myself for what happened to the other 6 line, he was so good.

Wrasses can be real drama queens. Strongly suspect two things. Fish will be fine. Fish will NOT learn from its mistake and will do similar again and again ;)

I'm sure he's fine. I had a chromis once swim into a power head that had too wide of a cage. I got him out, cut all up and he lived till I broke the tank down a year later and gave him to a fish store.
