Hey guys I had a big debate here about my sps's bleaching for a wile now, Im not sure if anyone here remembers. I end up getting a par meter to make sure its not the light, or its a light issue.
This reading its after I lowered the lights a little today about 2 inches. It was higher before the reading.
What you guys think?
Should I leave it the way it is, or lower the light a little more?

Looks fine to me, you could always lower the light just do it gradually and if u have better results keep it that way. The only thing i would worry about is the clam, maybe move him up

The clam has been On the sand for over 6 months. Its doing good so far. Only problem is the sps's all bleaching.

Lighting numbers are on the good low end.
Its not a lighting issue :-)

What lights are you currently using and are you a 2 part guy?. Also thats my par as of 2 weeeks ago. I was going to do a writeup on the use of carbon, old bulbs and high with t5s. Just tryng to get everything donr first before i post

Also ive seen people including myself keeping clams on the bed, usually around 100/200 par, untill i went diving for my first time and seen all these clams in rocks, stickingout at tide and all litterally a foot from the ocean surface made me change my mind lol

Before i do the write up ill give you a sneak peak, i use ati 6 bulb 48in with 2 reebrites, 31 inches from the sandbed. The use of carbon and running my bulbs (that are 4 months old )less then 40° was about 30/40% higher par then without. If it was leds id tell you to be careful and not to lower the fixture. But for me after 4/5 months out of new bulbs i drop the fixture 3 inches to accommodate

Im upgrading to a 120 in the next couple of weeks. I will have space to move things around. Right now nothing cant be moved lol.

How long are your lights on?
But those are on the low side, probably isnt your lights.
Which means a new challenge to findout why your sps are not happy.
Bleaching or turning white from rtn?

Lights are on from 9am to 8pm
Im not sure why its bleaching. All I know is that its been bleaching from the tips down for over 6 months. Alk is steady. So does salinity.
I have acollection of tests kits here, all reads about the same.

Alk 10
Ca 450
Mag 1300
Nitrates 5
Po4 0
Salinity 1.025

Nothing wrong with your light.
Start looking into the ALK level and your 0 Po4.

Raise PO4 some,...some say alk 9 is better. I like Berlibee's numbers,...350 top of rocks 300 at sand.
