Mine like cerith snails and zoa flowers in the hairI love it. Lately mine has taken to carrying around hermit crabs.
My pincushion does chew up the plastic a little, my wave pumps have gone from smooth plastic to lightly textured. I suspect the plastic bits are pretty inert, and mechanical filtration should catch some of it. I do know that will chew through power cords, I have lost more than one pump this way. Now all my in-tank cords have 1/4" split loom shielding, it still gets chewed on, but is cheap and easy to replace.Hey you guys with urchins. I'm sure you see how they grind into rocks for food what do you think about them chewing on plastic powerheads? Mine are covered in coralline and the urchins chomp away but I'm concerned they are chomping up plastic too and releasing tiny plastic dust into the tank.

I periodically rescue a snail from mine.

Mine is rarely on the power cords, thankfully but I’ll be sure to inspect them later. He does however, an awesome job at cleaning!
