Newish clown is pooping white stringy substance, is this something to worry about? He’s eating but not a ton, I’ve been feeding small amounts 1-2 times daily.

Are you feeding a mix of foods? This is sometimes an issue with just feeding 1 item like mysis.

It can also be from internal issues but I would guess this is just from being in the local fish store for a while and it being new to you. A lot of times there they will only feed mysis leading to stringy white poop and most of the time it go away with a healthy diet

often when feeding marine fish in general but more prevalent with clowns a combo of mysis shrimp and brine shrimp, there is excess mucus in their feces which gives it the appearance of intenal issues. With Internal parasites, there will be weight loss, loss of appetite, pinched stomach and more.
Add goods to diet such as LRS fish frenzy, marine cuisine and small plankton which are less fatty

This is most likely due to the diet from the store you bought it from. If it is eating just continue to feed as you have and it should change overtime

Dont believe this is a store diet issue and mucus can last several days why suggestion of added foods were noted. Flakes will help absorb mucus to a degree also

Got some cobolt flakes because that’s what my lfs had and the little guy seems to love it. Thanks for the suggestion!

So the little dude seems to be hanging out near the surface and isn't eating much.

I have a 40 gallon breeder

My water params are:
Salinity: 1.0245
PH: 8.1
Temp: 78.4
Nitrate: 5
Ammonia: 0

I have a powerhead aiming at the surface of the water to create oxygen in the tank.

My other clown is doing just fine, eating like normal and swimming near the bottom of the tank like always. This dude got introduced a bit later and it being picked on a bit by the other clown, but nothing horrible. Any ideas as to what might be going on here? Something just seems off. Sometimes he yawns, I think my wife caught it in the last video.

I have one other clownfish, two Trochus snails, 5 bumblebee snails and a shrimp goby, they all seem to be doing fine.....

Sorry for all the floating food, was trying to get him to eat on camera.

I wonder it is staying at the top to avoid the other clownfish? Does he ever go to the bottom? If it does go the bottom and the other clown attacks, note whether or not it retreats to that same location.

I think this might be the issue, the other one kind of picks on him. I’m hoping they pair up but currently it doesn’t seem like the white one likes the orange one much. I dosed Prazi-Pro just in case he has some internal thing going on, but I’m going to assume it’s because the white one is bothering him.

Oh, I just put two and two together and realized I warned of this happening the day you posted that you got the new fish. This is confirming my theory even more. When your first posted, I had a hunch that you would experience some aggression due to them both being Ocellaris Clowns, being about the same size, being different colors and you adding them at different times.

The white one isn’t super aggressive towards the white one. Not sure color has anything to do with the process but more whether or not the orange one is a male. The orange one is definitely submissive.

Also since they’re both Ocellaris I should have an easier time pairing them up.

The color is debatable in the instance that the clownfish sees something that is very similar in size and shape but something is off (from what I've read). I think I worded it wrong about it being Ocellaris- my thoughts were since they are both Ocellaris and you not knowing the sex of either, the aggression would be less than if you had 2 females that were different species of clownfish. In the event that the they are both males, the aggression could be 2 males fighting to be female. In the event that they are both females, one female could be bullying the other to death. In the event that one is male and one is female, the female may be bullying to assert "I'm the dominant female."
