Just wondering what would i need to make it an apex? Or apex jr?

Apex brain, aquabus cables, probes and possibly a display

Maybe a lot of money. Do you know if i could buy an apex jr and connect the eb8 to it?

You can def buy a Jr. and connect it. I see a lot of them on sale here for around $175. But with an Apex Jr. I THINK you have to buy a separate module for the PH/ORP and variable speed ports. For that price I'd just find a cheap, used Apex classic for a few sheckles more, which will also come with an EB8, display, etc.

Can i just buy an apex base unit and skip the screen?

I think you need the screen for the initial network setup (at least I did for when I purchased it new). But after that you can just sell it and use an old tablet as your new "screen".

But, yes, you can just buy the apex base unit, and then buy the temp and/or PH probes for it. But finding a base unit only will be tricky.

Sweet. Well they got a base unit for 385$ cad. Not bad for a "full apex" as i can afford the rest. You sure about the screen?

+1 to this ^^^

At that price, you may be able to buy a used full apex system. I'd go that route.

Yeah, at $385 for just a base unit, I'd hold out and look for a used full apex which will have an EB8s, probes and display. You'll definitely find the spare EB8 handy as you'll eventually need the extra controllable outlets as you expand your system anyway. I use 2 EB8 and I'm just running a Biocube presently.
