I got crab. Lol

Let see what you guys have in yours sump tank.
I was in FL 5 month ago for vacation, came home with some seaweed, didn't see him on it until couple month later and he was about 1/2" big.
Few months pass by and now he's about 4-5" big. I didn't see him for a week and today I just saw him coming out under the rock scare the hell out of me.

looks like a Florida blue crab

lots of people eat those things....i could only say i would not want one in my tank just because i don't know how much good it would really do.... try eating it lol

He's been keeping the sump pretty clean. I do how ever feed him a pieces of fish about an 1". I think he will stay in the sump for now until I get the 50 gallon tank ready for him only. I would love to get a mate for him soon. Yes I did ate a few of them when I was there.

I didn't see him for couple weeks all I did was put the food in the same spot every other days. I was moving the rocks around to check on him and almost got my finger.

If you ever want to pull him out, grab him by the back fin meets the shell. Claws cannot pinch you there. Just had a dozen of those last night. In MD people go crazy to eat those things. Definitely a blue crab. If it's apron ( belly) looks like an arrow it's a male, if it has a small point female. They can get rather large FYI.

Haha I used to catch those up here on Long Island in the summertime, yeah their sexing is easy. If it looks like a perfect triangle it is a female. They definitely get big lol. They def have a better shot at living in your system than in the wild that is for sure, people snatch those up. Unfortunately they keep the females and juvi's and cook them anyway.

Anyway, pretty cool. Just be glad he is not in your display, you would of been trying to figure out where your fish have been going lol
