I got hair algae, what can I use.

Like others have mentioned- I would try something natural options first before trying something chemical. After making sure you parameters are good- I would consider adding an urchin :) -Raven

One solution that is never mentioned but works is raising salinity to between 1.028 and 1.030 .

This won't fix you nutrient issues if that's the root cause but it will help kill of algae.

The red sea has a high salinity between these two readings, and little to know algae. It also has some of the best sps reefs in the world

I got hair algae and I have a few thing on hand I think I can use to get rid of it. First thing I could use is dino x. I also have chemi clean and hydrogen peroxide. Will any of those work? I think my tangs were keeping off until they died but how should I beat it and can I use those.

Ammonia and stuff like that I don't know which probably isn't a good thing but I'll test it in a minute
Dino X is not intended for GHA.

Critters work best, Snails, Tangs, Rabbitfish, Lawnmower Blenny.
I have all the above and no algae

Haven't seen anyone mention live phyto dosing. All natural, good for everything. After 2 weeks my algae was noticeably reduced and cyano was gone.

This. One of the best things I did was add a monthly batch of pods and daily phyto for a few months. That microfauna population is the secret. :)

Pull as much as you can by hand, reduce white light intensity, assure Phos and nitrate arent elevated and add cleaner snails such as turbo, astrea, cerith and trochus
Also pin cushion urchin and even a dozen caribbean blue leg hermits

One poster mentioned Vibrant. I would strongly advise staying away from it. It has been linked to death of folks' corals, fish, and mollusks. Get a tuxedo urchin, test levels. Take action according to nutrient levels. NO3 & PO4 high = water changes. NO3 5-20 but PO4 undetectable, bring up PO4 to ~0.1ppm. NO3 and PO4 low, stop water changes and maybe feed some more. Some good advice in this thread, some not so good. Bottles are not the answer.

Again, your nutrient levels and some idea of the magnitude of the issue would be helpful to know.
