These little tube looking things started to appear in my tank over the last month or so.I have not added anything recently, so it must have been in the system for a while.

Some are a deep purple/pink, while others a white. Mostly on the rock, but also on one of my wavemakers.

what the heck are they?

pop off at base if possible,if not ,break off ,super glue shut.
they tend to reproduce faster and faster.

Deal with them right away. You DO NOT want to let them get out control.

Vermatid snails in my experience don’t seem to cause issues. While they have the potential to irritate corals this has never happened to me,I take the approach of break off any that get too close to coral or are right out on display but having 5 or 10 on the rocks at any point has never caused any issues. Just another filter feeder.

if they just happen to grow near an encrusting coral and are not irritating it you can let the worm build a big long tube the coral will start to encrust it once the coral if halfway up the tube superglue the end to kill the snail so the coral can encrust over the end. Had this happen with encrusting Monti and now have a round stalk of Monti growing off the frag
