That's a long time in QT! I'm curious to hear about your QT procedure. I've been keeping SPS so I would dip, go into qt, wait a week and dip again, then wait a week and dip again. That would ensure I killed AEFW and any eggs would have hatched plus give me time to observe for other pests. I've only recently started QT of other corals though.

76 days is to prevent fish diseases from slipping in. Ich and velvet can encyst on coral, and 76 days is the longest documented time for ich to emerge.
I also quarantine my corals, they go into a fishless system and are dipped and observed for coral pests during this time.

It is hard to wait that long, but I have never violated the 76 days in my tank for any coral or anything with a shell (crabs, snails ect...) and have never had ich as a result. I also put every fish through pazil and copper. I have tried to feed the new plate coral two types of pellets, but it has rejected both types. It sent both types to its mouth and after tasting slowly pushed them off into the sand. I keep hearing good things about "silver sides", but have never tried that yet.

I feed Mysis allot to my fish and LPS. They are smaller than silversides and everything seems to love them.
