I have a pink rose urchin that has been with me for about 2 years. He is now probably a little larger than a baseball and he is a BULLDOZER!! Don't get me wrong. He does a great job, and I'm quite attached to him. But he is the single most destructive force in the tank. I just discovered that he carefully placed my 5 inch durasa clam into a hammer colony. I have a favia colony on a decent sized rock that is doing well despite the fact that it is regularly re positioned across the sandbed. And then there's his mad fragging skills. My wife has been after me to re-home him for awhile now, but it's hard for me to let anything go. I guess I just need a little encouragement.

I would let him go. If it makes you feel better make sure he goes to a good home and to someone who knows what they are doing. So you’ll know he will be fine

If you love urchins get a tuxedo. They stay small and are not very destructive, at least compared to my other urchin. That one is nicknamed The Junk Pile Urchin.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe in a tank this size, I could have a tuxedo and a Halloween urchin.

I have a Halloween urchin that I love but in response to your comment, they also get big. He's bigger than a baseball size right now. He'll pick up any loose frag off the frag rack, but worse he can push the frag rack right off the magnets.

Wow! I had no idea they got that big.
