I had a LED go out

Yep, as others have mentioned, a screw driver or chisel will pop it right off. A thick metal putty knife would be my preference though. Just line it up, so it won't dig into the heatsink, and hit it with a hammer. Once it pops off, sand it with some 120 grit sand paper, then 240 grit, and reinstall a new LED.
 
Too much amperage going through it, not enough cooling, didn't have it epoxied correctly, just got a bad one.. all of these are possible reasons that it went out.

if you put it in the freezer it for a few hours it will usually make it easier to remove the epoxied piece as well.
