I try to use the least amount of live rock I can....

In my 16 foot long by 40" wide system 400+ gallons had only 200 lbs in it..

My Reefer has 450 has 70 lbs in it. The rock structure is 2 towers left and right.

On my 200 gallon system I used 80lbs of CaribSea liferock. This is a work in progress.

One of my first tanks.. 8' long and 32" wide. This was more of a "C" shaped rock pile but still only ran 120-140 lbs of live rock. This tank was 200 gallons. Ha it is funny looking at my old systems....

My rule of thumb when aquascaping is to try to keep one side heavier than the other when building the rock structure. Then build height with SPS or LPS like acro's or simple to care for leathers and
Gorgonians. goniopora can work as well. The LPS works well as it is quick to place as the acro's grows in.

I also am now using coral like zoanthids as more of a "live Rock".. You can buy huge colonies for a decent price they make a great background coral.

Dang that looks like it sucked , swear I just watch a "tour" of that tank on youtube the other day

Yea i did that almost 2 years ago now..

What type of substrate do you have in that reefer 450? Looks great. And sooo clean, good job.

No clue this system was set up 2 years ago... I think I used Carib Sea coarse grain.

That Reefer 450 is the one that kills me every time I see it! LOVE that tank!!

It looks ok... :P I think i will be moving the green leather to my 200 gallon system soon.

Holy cow, them tanks!! What do you do for a living, because I am for sure in the wrong field! And out of curiosity, in the pics of your 8' 200g tank, what fish are those silvery ones with orange dorsal fins? They're purdy.

Roberto Denadai...

Beautiful. Love those nice, big colonies.

The fish are Mono Argentus. Actually a brackish fish, but do fine in full strength seawater. Neat fish.

As to careers, can't speak to that, but I'm a firm believer that a fat wallet is NOT the deciding factor in having a beautiful aquarium. It helps, sure, but the time and effort you put into it are more important than the dollars.

All of these tanks are awesome, but that Reefer 450 is simply perfect! I am copying that pic into my "inspiration folder." :-)
