I hate veremetid snails!

I have been in the hobby for 10 years and have always had them. You will never beat them unless you start fresh with dry rock and sand. They attach to corals and equipment.

The best method I found dealing with them is a 3 watt laser. I feed the tank and look for the strings then zap them with the laser for a few seconds and hear them sizzle and pop watch them turn white within a few days.

At this point I know I will never beat them but I have been able to control them so they are not so unsightly.

Good luck and hope you find a solution!

What laser should I buy? I want a huge one to blow them up!! Money is no object

I bought a cheap China made one for a little over $100. Any blue 3 watt laser will work. Just make sure the beam is a blue laser cause from what I read they are more powerful.

The Lasers can be used for almost any pests in your tank, you wont regret buying it. Just make sure you buy spare rechargeable batteries cause it is power hungry.

Can you provide me a model or link please?

Any of the above will do. I personally like the compact design of the one I have. I have used the bulkier ones before and was not a fan

So these lasers will get rid of vermetid snails yes?

Make sure you wear long sleeves when you use it... the reflection off the glass will burn you. I just burnt my chin from the reflection.

Haha sounds intense! It won’t hurt the glass?

It will kill ones you can see but almost impossible to completely eradicate them all without a complete teardown.

The laser has many uses in the hobby. Can also be used for aptasia, manjo's, nudi's and what ever else you want to kill. It is not a complete cure for anything but just an additional tool to use in conjunction with other methods of treatment.

I’m sold man! I hope it work. How do you recommended using it? Do I hold it down? What happens?

Should I get the 5w vs the 3w?

Thanks

I think 3 watt is more than enough. I didnt want to go with the 5 watt in fear that I would cut a fish in half or something bad like that. The fish do stay away for the most part but sometimes get a little curious.

To use it I put it up against the glass to hold it steady and then focus the beam as narrow as possible on what ever I want to kill. You will hear it sizzle and pop after a second or two and leave it on for 10 seconds or so just to make sure it's real dead... definitely wear the glasses and long sleeves and make sure there are no kiddos around. The beam is intense and will harm your eyes if you stare at it long enough.

Thanks for all the info! I’m excited. If this works your a life saver :)

Have a nice Christmas

Keep us posted. I might get one just to zap the visible ones away [emoji1]. Definitely be careful as it will cause permanent eye damage if you inadvertently shine the beam into your eyes.
