I HATE WASHING MY SOCKS!

thats called a roller mat

; )
Roller mats are great. But, Reef Diapers are more cost effective and have no moving parts or electrical components that can fail. And, the best part is they are dirt cheap and fit in the sump without requiring any modifications.

Im no expert and have only been cleaning socks for a few weeks now.

But soak in bleach overnight. Turn inside out and hose down outside. Turn back inside out and rinse with RO. Takes like 3 minutes.
Save yourself the hassle. Reef Diapers are $1 a piece on Amazon.

Looks interesting. I take mine to the local laundromat. 4.50$ and it does all the heavy lifting lol.
Eww those are the reasons I'm glad I don't use the local laundry facilities anymore, that's disgusting and shameful.....

I used to do mine in our washing machine one cycle inside out then a rinse cycle after turning them right side out. Do a bunch at a time with nothing nasty left in the machine. I switched to reef diapers a few months ago tho so now I don't wash socks
Me too I wish they had 7" reef diapers not the washing machine until it was clean first with a garden hose, I never put any decaying food and bristle worms in my washing machine.

What do you think you spend a month on these? I have them in my Amazon cart.
my 48g bare bottom system w/ live rock and snails, having a skimmer and maybe 3-500gph flowing through it and one single 4" diaper, with out any flocculants added, I change them every 3 maybe 4 days because it clogs and water will not flow. I would do it less frequent but it will not allow me.

I can't say for the monthly cost I could figure it out, but I've bought them in bulk and have ALLOT

I looked hard at them but it would cost me about $30 a month to change 2 socks every other day. They have their place though just not in my tank. Sometimes I use 4 after heavy cleanings. I realize $30 is a drip in this hobby but with dosing, water changes, media, livestock, coral, electric, equipment upgrades and failure it adds up.

Wow, I have always rinsed mine by hand upside down with the faucet. Slowly washing the sides of the sock against each other until the detritus breaks loose into the water. Takes me a few minutes and then I permit to dry. I don't care if it gets bleached or not, but if I was concerned, I'd replace it.

My time is valuable, not washing 30 socks is worth more than $30 to me. Do you plan on making a build thread?

I bought a box of this and a filter cup and stick a handful in the cup that fits into the 4" sock holders. I change it out every 3 or 4 days and dump the old one. A big box should last me a year or 2 at the rate I'm using it. I hate filter socks.

I have 18 socks 7" size. I change them every 4 or 5 days.

I have a brute can of rocks I am curing so I give them a rinse and squeeze in there before they go into the bucket that will eventually go in the washer. Once they are dried, but dirty, they go in another bucket for storage.

When its time to wash them, about once every other month, they go into the washer on hot, heavy duty, extra rinse, extra spin. No detergent, no bleach. I then air dry them and back in service.
