Right now it's my skimmer. It's a Vertex Somatic 60. I changed the filter sock today and the thing went nuts. I can do absolutely NOTHING without having to turn it off, turn it down and spend the next hour trying to get it set again. Irritates the poop out of me.

So, which piece of equipment/fish/coral/invert/etc. do you hate? What gets your dander up every time?

Are you rinsing the sock first with rodi .. what are you cleaning the socks with ..I would just leave the skimmer off for a day after adding the sock ..
Personally I hate my D-D mediareactor .. the rubber seal on it wears out and misshapes quickly .. sometimes it takes me a while too get it seated properly .. real pain in the *** !!

Not rinsing the sock in RODI. When I clean it, I basically just soak it in hot water in the sink. We have well water and have tested it (hubby is a chemist at chemical plant). It's OK. I let it air dry. I do top off with RODI but that wasn't always the case. I only got the top off for convenience and tank stability and I haven't had it for too long. I get my RODI in jugs from the LFS.

Right now, my Bashsea media reactors. There is no easy way to change out the media....makes me miss my BRS reactors

Salt spray/creep. Hate dealing with it.

Next would be heaters. I feel like they're ticking time bombs. Controller or no controller. They're just waiting to fail.

I agree. I had a heater on a 125 gallon Rift Valley Cichlid tank. I came home one day to find it had shorted out in the on position. Tank water was in the 90's. Breeder fish dead...... Sucked, big time!
