Im scared to put my coral on the rocks out of fear the placement will be bad.

So I keep MOST on frag racks:(

Just roll with it. It’s not like it can’t be un done or fraged again later in life. The coral will tell you if it likes the spot or not, and if not it’s easy to move.

Take your frags off of the plugs and mount them to small flat pieces of live rock rubble. Then mount that to your rock work. Then if you don’t like the placement, you can pop the rock off and relocate without disturbing the coral.

Use a color wheel to help you.

Don't stress about placement...most likely a snail will knock it off the rock and you'll need to place it again. :D

All my zoas are on a oceanbox designs magnetic fragrack. The rest of my tank is just big ugly rocks lol.

The color wheel is to put contrasting colors of corals beside each other so they stick out i think.

What are you worried about exactly?shadowing? Coral warfare? Space limitations?
