I have a serious algae problem in my IM 40 gal

I meant diatoms Im sorry. But if your a year into it you know your algae by now LOL. Its no fun but maybe kill the lights for 2 or 3 days see if that decreases the growth?

I have 5 turbo snails and a bunch of red leg hermits

The color is a brown color though
