There is a smoother transition to the neck and the neck is longer. I think the 300a has more and finner bubbles. The pump doesnt have any start up issues so far I am happy with it. Cant wait to see how much nog it can pull. I have it on a 180 gallon display with 25 fish.

I will raise the stand tomorrow its in 8.5" of water right now. Should I have the b pipe out the water or completely submerged?

I take the b pipe completely off and submerge the elbo. Seems to work well like that. You may be just fine with it in 8.5" you'll just have to check. It should perform much nicer than your old twin sicce model. And no start up issues or noise.

Great choice. Get ready for some of this....

I adjusted my drains from the sump and now it sits in just under 7" of water. Where should I have the water level in the skimmer?

Until it breaks in i would run the foam head at the bottom of the neck. They have a huge foam head so if your not around it could skim the whole cup pretty fast if higher. Then you can adjust from there. After that should be set and forget.

I would play around with it. I like my 250a in 7.0 to 8.0 inches. I know the structure of the 300 is different and will react differently than my 250a body. I would run it wide open for about a week to break in. Then start where you are and raise the sump level until you can see a little water (not air bubbles) break around the taper. I would guess the 300 will like a little deeper sump level due the the larger 12 inch body. Personally I would start at 8 or 8.5 inches.

Holy cow hammerhead.... I would say it's time for a good cleaning in that thing! haha

Well, it actually wasnt as bad as it looked. I had just started a new batch of carbon which gave it a darker color, but it was pretty bad. I have just been running it for a couple months now and its the best money I have spent on a skimmer period. I honestly dont see how other high dollar skimmers out there that cost two, three or four times as much would spank this thing on a SCFH meter or in skim production.

Hammerhead, I have a 300a and need to know what the minimum water level needs to be I messed up had the baffles cut to 12 inches. Needless to say that is too deep and I have mine under the tank. I need to cut new glass for the baffles and redo.
