I woke up yesterday with my tank very cloudy. The night before it was crystal clear. All my coral was small and pale. I already did 3, 75 percent water changes. My sps are either bleached or dead. Today I picked up a dead starfish. All my fish seem to be doing well so far. I ruled out sand storm and calcium precipitate because they would've made a substance at the bottom of a bucket. An algae bloom would've been green. The only option would be bacterial bloom. My tank has been stable for over an year. I tested after the water changes and it is this
PH 8.0
Alka. 11
Nitrate 1
Phosphate ? (Low because of little algae growth)
Calcium 400
Mag 1300

test ammonia? and nitrite... im also thinking its a bacterial bloom.. do you carbon dose?

Oh man sorry to hear about the losses. Did you keep any of the water you pulled from the tank during this outbreak?
Testing the water will help reveal the cause for future reference.

You may have already done this but run to walmart by a bag of 100% poly fiber cotton and put it in your sump in a bubble trap or inside filter sock (my personal favorite) and it will take the cloudiness out of the water pretty fast

I replaced my poly filter already. My anemone is not doing well so I moved to my main tank. I threw my water already away so I can not test.

I had a bacterial bloom, but I didn't lose anything. I hooked up a uv sterilizer, it cleared up in a few days. Water changes didn't work for me.
