I have cyanobacteria need advice.

Here are my water parameters temp-78 ph-8.0 nitrate-0 nitrite-0 ammonia-0 phosphate. Its growing mostly on the sand and at one end of the tank. I did notice that early in the morning the sun shines at that end of the tank for about an hour. Is that long enough to cause cyno? For now I have the lights off and starting tonight I will cover the front of the tank to block the sun. Any ideas would be great.

Cyano is a bacteria not an algae. Erithomyacin(spelling) is what I use. It is an antibiotic and is reef safe. Carbon dosing can cause it also. Due to the excess bacteria in your system. They make products that will get rid of cyano just follow the directions to the T.

Have you tried this? Is it ok to use with coral and inverts? Do you need to do a water change at end of treatment? Thanks.

Healthy quantities of nitrates and phosphates will keep the cyano in check....they are able to fix free nitrogen, so they are outcompeting others for space right now.
