I have Dino's!! Help

What i find interesting about the majority of the people who have issues with algae outbreaks is almost everyone uses synthetic rock and sand. Ive been out of reefing for several years and now have jumped back in but years ago LR and LS were the standard. Yes there were algae outbreaks back then but it seems that the outbreaks today are more frequent and harder to eliminate.

I hear ya on the cuc but don't diatoms also not show at night? My sandbed gets fuzzy brown patches during the day after water changes (I need silica buster DI resin). During mid day lights it can look ugly but my huge goby keeps it in check. No dead crew either but I keep an extremely light crew (less than 20 in my 300).

At night my sandbed looks crystal clear so I'm pretty sure that diatoms don't show in sand at night. Hopefully someone can chime in.

I'd check out a cheap microscope from amazon to be sure.
