Hi! I have a couple of quick questions before I go any further with my tank. I love lurking around on reef to reef I am learning so much.
First, what does SPS &LPS stand for? I have been able to figure out what the other abbreviations seem to mean but I am not sure about these two and they're used a lot.
Second question where on the site would be the best place to try to figure out which corals are compatible with others? A month ago I thought everybody could get along great, but I am learning that is not true. Before I invest in some new friends I want to make sure everything will get along just fine.

SPS=small polyp stony coral. Examples: Acroporas, montiporas, birdsnests, ect.
LPS=Large polyp stony coral. Examples: Acans, torches, frogspawns, favias, cynarinas, fungias ect.
It basically has to do with how "big" their mouths are.

Not sure where you can look to find that out but you can keep most things in the same tank so long as you have enough space to keep them far enough apart from one another. Some coral have very long stinger tentacles while others do not. Look up any animal before you buy to see what other people have experienced and feel free to ask any specific questions as they come up. :)
