I keep ending up with this in my tank and every time I suck it all out it comes back worse. I can’t figure out what it is but it’s consistency is like jelly.

Remove all that you can and focus on phosphate and nitrate readings
Are you using tap water from faucet?

Guessing that is a bacterial bloom. Are you carbon dosing? How old is the tank now? What is your water change schedule like?
Tank is a year and a half old. No carbon. I have automatic water changes. 2 gallons daily

I had the same issue when I left my tank fallow, without any water flow, lights, or heat for around 2 months. When I came back this algae was on everything. Once I started restocking my tank I bought a CUC with 14 hermit crabs. They completely scrubbed my 90 gallon shallow tank clean within a month or two.

I’ll try that. I think I have enough flow. I have 2 Neptune power heads at 70% and my Neptune return at 60%

do you dose bacteria? like vibrant/microbacter/etc? what do you feed and how much? something is feeding the slime making it grow. you gotta starve it
I am not currently dosing any bacteria or anything. I am feeding minimal pellets daily

I would guess that nitrates and/or phosphate levels are off in this system. The sand might need a rinse? A few drops of Microbacter7 sometimes can help, but it's hard to say without measured water parameters or being able to see touch and smell this tank up close.

It not the end of the world, just a phase you can beat.
