Well, here has been my experience. You need to start gathering some buckets and or 5 to 10 gallon water jugs. Also, you will need several 20 gallon plastic wash tubs/buckets. You want to start by draining your available water into the jugs/buckets. After you get the water down some it makes it easier to catch the fish. You can take out the live rock and place it in the 20 gallon buckets and cover them with damp paper towels. The fish depending on the size/number can go in any amount of aerated water for the trip. I would recommend leaving the substrate in the bottom of your tank. Get all the water out that you can and then you should be able to handle the tank and substrate with a friend or 2. I did this for my 55 gallon and it all went pretty well. When you arrive at the new location you have all your original water ready to go right back in and you don't really disturb the substrate much.
