Well I "rescued" this beautiful condylactus nem from petco for a great price. I got it last Sunday, so exactly a week ago. Last night I noticed my gold dot maroon trying to get the nem to host her. I wasn't expecting it because I heard condy nems are rare to host clowns. It didn't seem like the nem was having it tho. He was actually scaring the clown because he stole her rock from her and made her move to the whole other side of the tank. Well I check the tank before lights out and here they are waving together. I never seen the clown so happy. Swimming in the tentacles. Rubbing her head all over them. My only problem is I was about to rehome the clown due to aggression. 2 fish died due to her territorial aggression. She is now the only fish left. Will this make her more or less aggressive towards new tank mates. I would assume more aggressive. I want to start adding more fish, but I'm not letting another fish die at the "fins" of her aggression. She thinks it's her tank, but it's actually mine. She even would go as far as(before the nem stole her rock) knocking corals over and moving them if they were best her rock. I would like to know you guys opinions or how this will effect her aggression. I guess if anything I will just get rid of them together or try to find a less aggressive clown for the nem. I'm very excited about this none then less. Especially because it only took a week!

Horrible but cute pictures.

Unfortunately the anemone will most likely make her more territorial but she will probably stay close to it for the most part and leave the rest of the tank alone. It's also entirely possible she will start to bite you when you stick your hand in the tank. My maroon is only aggressive towards corals and magnet scrapers that get too close to her anemone, I moved some corals around yesterday and every time I'd look back at the tank she had knocked them all around

My female clown (lightning maroon) is massively territorial. The nem I got her made her stick to her side of the tank. She is leaving the male alone for the last month now. Every now and then she darts out of the nem after him, but the fighting is not there as much as it was.

She does however attack my hand when I'm in the tank cleaning it. Been nipped a few times, but mostly it is just being slapped by her tail.

What were the other fish that didn’t work with her?

With any fish, it comes down to how much you value that fish vs what that fish prevents you from having

So far just wrasses. A Lubbock's fairy and a bluestreak cleaner.

Condys can get huge. I had one take over my 125. I had to give it away to my daughter's science teacher at the time. They had a tank set up and everything. It was pretty cool.
As in how big? I only read they get 6-10 inches. That's crazy. Do they split also? In assuming this is normal also, but one of the tentacles has 2 tips. What does that mean?

I’ve seen them well over a foot across.

In a 55 seems like theres enough space. Some clowns are just mean though.
And double tentacles are normal.

I would like advice from you guys on if I could keep bta's with my condy, and also Lta's I really want some of those types.

I also thought it was really funny. I'm sure this is normal, but how the clown was still swimming in the little bit of tentacles that were out when the nem was closed during lights out. I woke up and turn the lights on this morning and she's still swimming all around the closed up nem haha.

She will be more aggressive rather than less. 55 gal is just perfect for a pair of Maroon clown. Let her have her house, find her a husband that she won't kill and set up another tank for yourself. If I set up a other tank, I would do a small one (40 gal breeder) with a pair of wild caught Maroon. Tank bred ones are so deformed.

I keep the Condy and BTA together. It depends on the BTA and they can touch each other side by side with no problems. But some other more aggressive BTA end up stinging and wining against the Condy. Hence making it move to a more ideal location.
