Took a run to the LFS today. They had a tank full of beautiful baby yellow damsels. I couldn't resist! Brought 2 home with me to add to my 32g. Got them acclimated and added and now the existing, and larger, Yellow Tail Blue damsels are not happy. It is almost time for lights out so hopefully in the morning all will be good... I wish fish weren't such jerks when you add in newbies.

You are going to have a death match if not parasites, good luck?

Lights out and a feeding helps but territory will play a role

I love the yellow damsels too (my lfs labels them "lemon damsels"). I hope your blues leave them alone or at least don't bully them too much... I think damsels are beautiful fish but in past experience ours bullied eachother pretty often even in a 55 gallon tank. It's interesting how some fish are hellbent on intimidating newcomers while others could care less! My chunky bicolor blenny was the only fish for a couple weeks when I added a small pair of clownfish - he hasn't chased them, but literally stalked them for days! It was so weird, lol. Good luck with the damsels - fingers crossed they're friendly before stressing eachother out too much. I've heard rearranging your tank a bit can help territorial aggression.

I have been buying fish from this store for a long time. They are always healthy and I have never once had a disease or parasite issue from them.

Breeder boxes can help a lot with new fish aggression. It gives the new fish a safe place to hang out while you can see how your other fish react

I agree that feeding and lights out will help. A safe place to hide is also important. I have done all of that, and the lights are off now. The YTBs have already retreated to their own hidey holes. I may do a bit of rock rearrangement in the morning.. set everyone back on even footing.

I love yellow fish in general! Those baby damsels are so beautiful! I put them in the 32 for now because I think they are too small for the 55 or 180. The 180 (which will likely be their final home, is a FOWLR "predator" tank. These babies would be nothing more than a mouthful for the triggers or the MUCH larger Domino damsels or even the fairly even tempered 3 stripe Damsel in there. Funny thing is, I have read that the 3 stripes are one of the most aggressive of the Damsel family. I have not observed that in my tank, but I have to add that he went into the 180 from the start and there is PLENTY of room for territory in there.

I love yellow fish too - since I currently have a 32 gallon and no room for a yellow tang, I got a small lemonpeel angel (gorgeous fish and completely friendly). It picked at my mushrooms though, so definitely not reef safe lol. That's funny that you mention the dominos - in our 55, they and the blue damsels were evil! I've also heard the 3 stripes are the most aggressive, but every tank is different and can have different experiences with the same fish. But yeah, definitely would be trigger food until they're much bigger, lol.
Here's my lemonpeel, may he RIP.

So, the reason for the run to the LFS was to order a few new fish for my 180. Unfortunately, I have lost 3 fish (PB Tang, Clown Trigger and yesterday the larger of the 2 Domino Damsels). Since this is a FOWLR setup I generally don't do much with that tank besides feed and fill the ATO. I couldn't tell you when I last did a water change on that one. I suspect that the lack of water changes has made things take a bad turn. I don't have a fuge on that tank to uptake the Nitrates so I suspect that is the issue. I did 20g water change yesterday and will do another 20g tonight and finally a 3rd 20g tomorrow. When I tested my Nitrates, the Hanna checker maxed out at 75. I suspect it is actually MUCH higher.
