I've dealt with them in the pass. Good thing it was just a small 40b tank but super packed with SPS. When I noticed I had AEFW which they were most prominent on all my tri colors. I started to take each SPS and dipped them in Melafix. The AEFW pretty much detached from the coral within a few seconds of entering the dip. After I dipped them I would cut off the base of the SPS as that is where they lay thier eggs. I did this for nearly 6 months every week until I didn't see any AEFW falling off from any of my SPS in the dip. Since then I have been free of them. It sure was a pain to deal with. Good luck!

thanks for all the information everybody. Keep it coming. I've read about prazipro being less harsh on the coral and almost immediately kills the AEFWs. Might go buy some today. Currently still using Revive. I've looked at all of my colonies and they have good PE, color, and no signs of them. I would hate to have to cut them up.

From what I have read there is no one medication that is actually better than the rest. Im sure some are more potent than others, but all I want is something easy on my SPS and will make the worms turn loose of the colony. You would think that there are several outfits looking for a cure for these pests. Lots of money to be made with a simple medication that would exterminate them and not harm the SPS. Last night I used almost a whole bottle (400+ ml.) of Melafix for a 8 gallons dipping mix and it didnt seem to stress anything out more than a lighter dip mix. I am really tired of the melafix smell that is almost just like Pinesol. Does anyone know if the active ingredient is very harmful to us as far as absorbing it through our hands? On the bottle it says if you live in California it is known to cause Cancer. Glad I dont live in California!

I have no idea where the AEFW came from. I hadn't ordered anything for a few months until the two shipments I just placed the other day. I did buy a millepora from my LFS, but the tricolor was losing color before I put this in the tank. There are only 3 frags which have shown signs of the AEFW, however, I have dipped 11 frags. The bigger colonies which are attached to the rocks have only been blasted with the turkey baster-no AEFWs flew off.
Yesterday I did cut off the base of the blue milli that had the flatworms. I noticed some eggs, so I decided to go ahead a cut the base off. I couldn't see any eggs on the other frags.

best way to get rid of them would be to cut the base and reglue to new substrate after you dip and of course transfer to another tank.if its a main display make sure you take all the acros out that way it starves all the new hatclings at least for six weeks.
