I just killed my mando... I deserved it.

I have bad news... my mando is dead. Ive had her for a few months, feeding her daily multiple times, and I just found her lying on her back...
God I feel so bad. I killed this innocent creature just because I wanted the fish and I probably could have taken some extra precautions. Plus today was the day I had a shipment of copepods coming in. This is just cruel of me. I should have listened to all of you.
My goodness this is all my fault...

Don’t worry, we all have lost something in our reef tanks. Every single well-seasoned reefer has had a death in their aquarium.

I know I have made errors and poor judgment over the years. I have looked back and said “I knew better, why “.

It is the people that don’t care that don’t get what this hobby is about and should not be in it. You do and that is what it is all about. Keep on reefing.

Yeah i know how you learn well from tragedy, its just i never killed anything before, especially something that everyone told me could be a bit hard but i thought i could handle is. I should have just respected that i am a noob nd have lots to learn before i should try and tackle owning a fish like a mandarin.

I lost $300 dollars of fish to ich when I first started out. Didn't have the internet back then and little information to go on.

Like everyone one else said we’ve all lost a few good fish out there and one to many count that is. This will only make you stronger! I’m sorry for the loss.

Your grief is evidence that you care. It's hard to be objective when we want a certain fish or coral so badly. I'm on the other end of the age line from you and it's still difficult.

Learn from this, try to evaluate advice based on its merit and not on whether it reinforces your desire. You will be fine and many of your fish will live long healthy lives. Be sorry but don't let your grief ruin your joy!

It was starved, which is why i feel so bad. Plus i fed her 2-3 times a day. One of the problems is that she was so small, it was hard for her to fit anything in my mouth. Its harder on me cuz lots of people were telling me not to do it, it would be hard to feed her, and they were right, and i was stubborn.

Just a thing to consider. Sometimes a fish will die no matter what you do. Sometimes it's the way they're collected, sometimes it's the way they're shipped and sometimes it's just genetics.

Yeah but this one was just a baby mando that wasnt eating enough. my fault...

This was a difficult fish but there is not fish psychic. Maybe she was ill when you got her. Maybe that was why she did not eat enough? There are so many different factors that come into play here. This will not be the last fish you lose. It's all going to be fine.
Short story... my niece and nephew used to have a betta fish. My nephew was too lazy to change the water, so he asked his sister to do it. She put the fish "Bob" in a soup bowl and went about cleaning the vase it lived in. "Bob" jumped out and died on the floor in short order - guessing some sort of blunt force trauma. It did not take long for my nephew to discover the swan dive and blame his sister for it's demise. For years we heard, "I had a fish ...... once."
Fast forward about 6 years and that same nephew is now a marine biology major in Georgia. His sister is a veterinary technician. The experience taught them both to care more for lives entrusted to their care. Losing "Bob" made him chose to read and learn about fish --- because his parents banned future fish ownership until they were responsible enough to take care of it.
Good things happened from bad experiences. How will you evolve as a person from this experience? Let us know in a few years.
