I just learned that corals can be dyed.

Yesterday, I learned that you can dye corals. People don't like dyed corals, though. Why is dyeing corals bad? Is it because the dye is bad for the health of the coral? Is it because the coral is sort of fake or artificial?
 
The only thing I've heard of that was similar was a way to extract some of the internal bacteria and modify it genetically and reinject it and get different colors out
 
never heard of this. how does one "dye" a coral?
 
They do it with fish and anemones. So I’d imagine they’d try it with coral. Terrible thing

the new growth would also not have the dyed color
