this guy has an interesting story. I bought him 6 months ago with a clown goby (LFS labeled it watchman) for the first few months I would see him poking from little caves he made, but then I never saw him again. I thought I saw a shrimp carcass a few months back and assumed he died.

anyway, last week I found him! I was so shocked to see him because he was gone for months! Anyway, I’ve been thinking of getting a real watchman goby because I want to see him come out.

What’s the best watchman goby for this shrimp?

tank is 300 gallons, what is the best way to introduce them?

if you kept the shrimp singly before, have you noticed them hiding all the time? I’m honestly shocked that he didn’t starve to death from hunger.

Awesome little guy! People do keep them with yellow watchmen, so you could try that. Or something bigger like a Randall’s goby.
To introduce them you could net the goby and let him go by wherever the shrimp hangs out. They usually find each other pretty easily.

they’re usually very shy when they don’t have a goby! They’re pretty much blind, so they rely on the fish to know when dangers coming

A pair of wheeler gobies, or a yellow watchman would work.

Agree don’t force them together mine crosses opposite corners of the tank and we’re friends the next morning, similar color and size would be best but should be fine with any shrimp goby

It sounds like the shrimp probably just molted and that’s what you saw before. I had mine with a yellow watchmen goby. When you are ready to add the goby to the tank try really hard to release him from the net right beside the burrow. I’m sure they will find each other shortly

Can I keep a barber shop goby with this shrimp?
