I was in my local Aquatic store in the small over flow town of Aylesford near Maidstone in the County of Kent in Southern United Kingdom, Being in a wheelchair
24/7 I find it a little hard to see the tanks up higher than my head. So I rely on my wife to tell me what's up top. But on this visit I was moving around the Marine room looking at some of the more expensive items and there it was a Elegance in full flow, a beautiful light green with orange tips flowing about. I had to have it as I had a spot on the sand for it. I had read a fair amount about these corals. I knew there was a risk that 50% of them just give up. Yes I got one of those. A few weeks after it was in my tank it look like it had a split around where it was joined to a base plate. The split grew and then there was a long bit of the body floating in the current. I watch each day as it got worse. Yes it did look like it want to escape, but the water condition was fine. Then the other edge started to breakaway until this morning it was a real mess and time to take it out of the tank. As it was lifted it just resolved. I managed to get all the parts which were left and not headed to the weir and the sump to the skimmer out of the tank. Seems I got one of those in the 50% that have this problem. Not sure if I would get another one or stick to Hammerheads or Torches. Everyday there is something new happening in the tank. Being Sunday I do my full number of tests for the week and touching wood all is within the limits except Elegance corals.
