I know what the issue is, Its becasue my house is closed up all day with either the AC running or the heat in the winter. Doesn't matter how much surface movement I have, that I does soda ash in increments throughout the night, or that my skimmer runs 24/7. My PH bottoms out at 7.8 at night and rarely see's 8.0 during the day. I cant really open a window and I am already dosing so what else is there to do to

Not enough a change to warrant worrying about. Keep doing what you are doing. If opening a window isn't possible run an Air line tubbing outside from your skimmer air intake if that's a possibility.

Yes, off of a probe. I have an API PH test kit that reads about the same but its hard to tell with the colors so I am not sure how accurate it is. The probe was calibrated about 6 months ago.

I had the exact same measurements until I ran my skimmer air intake outside. Now I range from 8.0 to 8.3 24/7
As stated, it is not so much the pH when still within range, but the swing of the pH. I get it though. I was not happy with mine down there either. You can also use a CO2 scrubber instead of outside air.

You should consider re-calibrating. I went about 8 months and was getting high readings, 8.35 at the bottom at 8.6 at the top. Didn't consider calibrating and kept worrying and trying to develop a plan to lower it. Re-calibrated, then it went to 8.1 - 8.3. Basically, before you start changing things double check your measurements are correct.

I was the same way. But i was using api test kit and i dose everyday still 7.8. So i went and got a digital and my ph was 8.4 . So the test could be inaccurate

Calibrating the probe is never a bad idea, but I would bet your results are pretty close to accurate because it is not that uncommon in a well sealed house. If your lowpoint is at 7.8 then I would personally follow the advice of not chasing it !! However if you feel you must then the airline to the outside or a co2 scrubber are both options. Depending on your setup the airline to the outside may be very easy or very difficult. A Co2 scrubber is very easy, but replacing the media can get costly over time.

In my case my PH would drop as low as 7.63 at night. Co2 scrubber would raise my lowpoint to around 7.75. Eventually put 2 airlines to the outside for my skimmer instead of using scrubber and my lowpoint is now around 7.9 and highpoint around 8.1
