So I forgot to turn off my lights and wasnt home. New tank so I'm not worried that much. Only two clowns and a few mushrooms, zoas and a chalice. Got home and shut the light off, Ricordia Yuma looked awful and shriveled so I shut to light off and covered the tank so it would be dark. Peeped in after and hour and it looked better. Do I put the lights on for the last few hours of their normal cycle, and just resume to normal tomorrow or should I turn them on now? Or leave them off until tomorrow morning? IDK what to do. Also side question for those who are here. (PS you're great) My little side chamber (Evo Fluval 13.5) of chaeto is growing red slime all over it. Never had it happen to me before! I keep an LED on it 24/7 like I have in the past, and periodically clean that algae off of it funny enough. strange and havent been able to find any threads that can help.

I got a $7 timer from Amazon when I had this tank. Might want to research cyano; does it siphon off easily?

I know the lid on the factory light gets hot. Tank temp used to climb high for me. I ditched the lid and got 2 kessil a80's and leave the top open.

Man I don’t even have a lighting schedule XD some day we do nine hours I try to do six then oh shoot it’s nine o’clock and it’s been on since eight this morning. They should be fine :D

I would buy a strip timer. Four plug-ins that’s on a timer. The other four timers are always on and can be used for like a heater or skimmer. The strip timers can also be used as eight full time plug-ins.
this timer is literally $25

I found something better, I use these on my wave pumps to alternate every other day. You have more controllability with these than a power strip.

BN-LINK WiFi Heavy Duty Smart Plug Outlet, No Hub Required with Energy Monitoring and Timer Function, White, Compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, 2.4 Ghz Network Only (2 Pack) $17.99

Now this looks awesome! I’m going to check these out.

Just put the lights back on their normal schedule and forget this ever happened.

+1 for the Kasa power strip. The app is very intuitive and easy to use, and you get 3 outlets on the same plug. I have 2 of them on my 40g, in addition to a regular strip for the equipment that runs 24/7.

another item you may want to invest in is an ATO (automatic top off) if you haven’t already. Combined with the timers, your life will be MUCH a easier, and your tank inhabitants will greatly appreciate it!
