I lit a nuvo 10 with T5's

Ok so I started the tank off with a kessil a80. Sadly everything was reaching, and nothing was happy. I needed a more powerful light. I then went for the hipargero 30w, and everything was very happy. The problem is I have no idea what is the best spectrum, and how strong it should be. The spotlight effect of the leds is intense as well. I keep hearing about the simplicity of t5 lighting. you just plug it in, and it grows coral. I have also heard that zoanthids seem to love t5. I decided to light the tank with a 24" fixture. I am using 1 ati blue plus, and 1 coral plus. I have it 8-10 inches above the water. Within 10 minutes of the t5's being on everything opened up way more then usual, and looked extremely happy. The problem is. it is bright as hell, and so I had to install a curtain as I work rotating shifts. This is a fun experiment. I do not know if I will keep it. I may go to a ai prime hd, but I love the idea of just plug the light in, and turn it on. no sprectrum editing, and all this other crazy stuff.

the leds I had were measuring about 1000 lux at the surface of the water. This is measuring 700. I do not think I have to worry about burning anything.

Thoughts, and comments, and suggestions would be appreciated.

Im a old fart so I had to look that up.. lol, I had a huge collection of guitars but after crushing my hand in a motorcycle accident I have sold most of them off. I still have my first guitar that I purchased 50 years ago, a Yamaha FG-340 and a old fender strat that I will probably be buried with

I would cut out a black foam board as a canopy or make a wood canopy to match the stand.

Old fender is good fender. At any rate. I am kinda hating the fact that i need these drapes up to make the light bearable for sleeping etc, but i mean honestly led was keeping me up as well. Working rotating shifts kinda blows.

I did my share of rotating shifts so I can feel your pain maybe like was suggested some kind of lite weight canopy to surround the fixture, your still going to get huge amounts of spillover from the long fixture but it would help dramatically.
