I guess all is lost.

All the message boards were correct all along.

Do you all think I'm doomed?

1 of my two goldfish (comets) died this week.

Perhaps you can help with the autopsy.

Tank is a 55g

on back porch.

with heater.

tap water

no filters

no water changes

no air stones.

no lights.

I broke down and added the heater when during the first winter the water surface was an ice sheet one day.

Porch has 3 outside walls with the forth facing southeast and screened.

direct sunlight 3 hours per day.

I simply can't understand what happened.

It had only been in the tank for 4 years.

Must have been some disease from the fish store.

Meanwhile his/her buddy is still in there doing just fine.

I guess it's time to quit this hobby after all the time and expense I've spent on that tank.

I might have spent over $50 not counting the tank and stand.

Every week I have to top off the tank with a garden hose.

and every 2-3 days I have to add food.

what a pain.

oh yea Hi h@rry and tomoko.

I hope you didn't have the service without inviting Tomoko and myself! If not, let us know. We can have such a beautiful service gathered around the commode. I'll bring flowers and Tomoko will surely agree to sing. We may even get Mariner to come and offer up his respects for the poor fish. Right before the "big flush" you and Verdel could recount some of the great times you have had in the past four years.

I'm kinda getting misty eyed thinking about it. Time for the evening medication!

I knew I should have posted earlier.

What a great idea.

four years from now when another fish dies I'll keep that in mind.

It's because you did not have a pink castle and a treasure trunk that opened and released bubbles.

Nope, it's because you don't have awesome lighting. If you did, you could have seen into the future and prevented this from happening.
