 I went to get up from my desk while holding my Canon Power Shot Pro 1 camera and a cup of coffee. Those who know me know I use a cane to walk and balance due to an injury...my knee buckled and the camera hit the floor...to add insult to injury, the coffee landed on the camera. I immediately took out the battery and flash card, opened up all the nooks and crannies and took an air duster to it to blow out any moisture. The was coffee being blown out of the battery compartment, shutter release and even by the off - on button. I have it sitting in the sun right now, but is there a good chance my camera is a total goner...or is it repairable. How long should I leave it sit before trying it and maybe getting the bad news!
I drink my coffee black, so no cream or sugar to further gum up the works. It fell about 2.5 to 3 feet onto a hardwood floor. UGH!! :crossedlips:

Once while on vacation I had an "emergency". In the act of dropping my pants, my camera flew out of my pocket, and (in slow motion, I swear), it went straight into the toilet. I took it apart, let it dry out in the Sun for a day, and it worked fine. I did find myself washing my hands after using it thought :P...

I have also completely filled my kybd tray with coffee to the point of overflowing (on accident!). It still works.

Thanks...I'll let it dry for about 24 hours then give it a test run...Now that's an impressive first post...ROFL...

as long as electronics arent on when they get wet they should be ok as long as you let them dry thoroughly
i know im going a little off course but if its pure water there will be absolutely no problem since water is not a conductor

IMO 2 days

When I worked wireless we had the best results with a minimum of two days. sometimes took three. Sometimes there would be large droplets that wouldnt dry off and took longer.

sunlight and then you can use a desk lamp as well.

Sorry to hear :(

I remember hearing a long time ago concerning marine electronics (marine radios, depth finders, etc) submerged in salt water that you should flush it with fresh water which would wash away all the salt residue. Then wash it out with alcohol which will wash away the water. The alcohol is supposed to evaporate rather quickly.

I'm not saying do all this, you understand, just something I heard.

At any rate, I'd put a fan on it to help it dry. 24 hours should be fine.

Hopefully it works again for you.

I dropped my old Canon in the tank while shooting photos. Unfortunately, it was completely sumberged and the saltwater pretty much fried it.
