I NEED a fish... but not just any fish... THE FINAL FISH

I have 3 fish in my 40 gallon and I'm looking for my final addition.
It needs to be a good algae eater, stay relatively small, and ideally I would like it to be interesting looking. Suggestions are welcome!

Utility algae eater in a 40 gal tank should be a Lawnmower blenny. They don’t get call lawnmower from not eating algae.

+1 on the lawnmower blenny. first candidate that popped into my head after seeing yr target requirements.

some Ecsenius blennies have a reputation as algae eaters (like the tail spot blenny).

yet another more fancy candidate may be
Golden Sailfin Blenny (Atrosalarias fuscus). maximum size is about 4”-5”.

Stay away from those little sailfin buggers if your ever keeping acro. They try to eat your sps skin for the algae!

The tailspot looks awesome and the golden is butt ugly! I love them both!

Seriously though, get a blenny. I like starry blennys

That's the exact one that was destroying my acro. One at a time until he killed it. Watched him do it and used a frag he was after as bait to catch him and banish him. Never again.

What about a molly miller blenny, apparently they eat lots of types of algae and possibly even aiptasia

Really depends I would reccomend a blenny tailspot or lawnmower. It is also possible to have a dwarf angel Flame, Coral beauty, or even maybe a Potters. If the tank has been up for awhile and you are willing to take a risk you could keep can Mandiran not big algae eaters though.
