So recently BRS did a Instagram video of Ryan cutting up the BRS 160 sump making way for the Triton method...... Now I'm a huge fan of their videos and for the past 6 months I have poured a lot of attention into setting up my tank(s). A little background on my tank(s)! I started with a 220g Marineland RR tank and a custom sump built by my LFS. I spent countless "minutes" setting up a tank within my budget for this tank so went on AI 26 hydras... Yeah except 26s don't cover the whole tank and can't punch thru 30" of water... Anywho, I set up this brand new tank a month before I said goodbye to this sweet soil and went to go play in the sandbox in the middle east! Fast forward a 5 months.... Ive added a 60 gallon tank to the 220g and decide to share the water with the 220 and this poor sump that I had built. So I along with a fellow reefer decide that I should put a sump in the basement and BAM along came a 75g RR refugium and a 100g rubbermaid trough for a sump! So where am I going with this rambling? Well I've added some Ecotech Gen2 Radions and did some other stuff and here I sit with a blank canvas! Zero coral in this tank... So I've been doing countless nights watching videos and admiring set-ups of other reefers tanks and trying to do the research on what kind of coral I want but i keep coming back to this little question. How do I want to maintain my reef tank after I put coral in it... I need automation in my life as I am a very busy person, but I know i want a mixed tank that would have SPS ( because they are just beautiful to look at) and I'm just wondering do I dose (Triton Method) or do I set myself up for using a calcium reactor? Now it may seem I'm going from step 1 to 100 and skipping 98 steps but I can assure you I'm not.... Just wondering what everyone else opinion is! I'm tired of looking at live rock and a bare tank, I love my fat fish but they need some color in their little lives... Thanks for reading this as it is a bit of a ramble!
