I need a new heater

I think my heater went out. What are your recommendations for a new one? I have a 55 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump. I believe my chiller is 1/10 hp, but i don't think it ever runs since i put in the LED lighting.

I would recommend a 150w Eheim Jager. I have never had a Jager fail on me and have run one on every tank I've had.

I use 2 of those in my sump and I have had no issues but the previous owner had them for over 3 yrs and no issues so they get my vote as well!

Do you already have a controller? Also what are the dimensions in the area of the sump you plan on putting the heater? 20 gallon sump may give you limited space....probably less than 14". If you already have a controller, then look into these...They can handle your gallon capacity and can fit in shorter areas. Get 2 of the 300 watt in case you should have a failure in the future, it's always good to have 2 hooked up to maintain the water temp.

Right now i don't have a controller, i have my heater plugged into my chiller and that's how i control the tempeture. Has worked great for 10 years now.. My sump is about 12"x24" overall, two compartments one about 12"x8" the other occupying the remainder.
