It’s hard to tell if it’s a normal red discosoma or a Deadpool jawbreaker. What did you buy it as?

It was sold to me as a jawbreaker , the mother looked similar but with black in it . Did i get screwed ?
All jawbreakers are discosomas. Not all discosomas are jawbreakers. Just a fancy name. When I think of jawbreakers, I think of multicolored. Did you get screwed? Probably not but if you like it, it’s all good.

Thanks i am still new to the hobby and am still learning ,i search pics and am finding the same thing ,some ppl call it a jawbreaker some just plain red disc i guess it depends on who ever is trying to sell it lol either way i got it really tiny like a dime now its about 3 inches across i really like it but when it has babies i am wondering what to call it for trade purposes

I never really asked the guy who is a well known local coral seller, but the mother looked the same but had a little black in it he told me it was a jawbreaker didn't say anything about deadpool or any other popular name

Things can change color as they grow, get older, and/or get used to tank lighting and parameters. I have some red rhodactis mushrooms that were brown when I got them. They turned orange, took on a nice pattering and grew green mouths. Take care of it and see how it colors up later on.

this is the mother
That’s not bad. Just give yours some time and give it proper lighting and keep water consistent. Mushrooms are easy to care for. Also easy to propagate.
