I recently noticed my tank acting weird. My corals are not fully extending and they are losing their colors. I have been testing my water daily and noticed that i have a lot of evaporation. I add two gallons of ro yesterday and i think i need about 1/2 gallon already today. Next i noticed my kh and calcium are changing a lot more than normal. Yesterday my dkh was at 6 and calcium was out the roof. Added some two part dose to it and now the calcium is at 400 and the dkh is at 13. I can't stand to see my tank look like this. I it is really depressing and i am gettting worried. Two weeks ago nothing was wrong it. Idk what to do.

How much alk did you dose? And what size tank? We're your corals acting funny before you dosed? That's a huge swing in 1 day and would make any coral mad.

Yes my corals have been acting funny for about a week. I have a 55 gallon display with a 20 gallon sump. I only added enough for 50 gallons. So below what i was supposed to

Going from 6 to 13 dKH immediately is a major problem.....but it's done. So at this point I think you have to sit back and see what happens. I think trying to bring it back down would just do additional damage. Don't dose alk until it gets back down to the proper levels. My guess is that you are going to see alk burn, specifically on your sps.

The only sps that seems to be doing poorly is my hawkins frag. The green slimer is fine. The other things in the tank that are acting weird are my frog spawn and rbt. The rose hasn't fully extended in a week. It looks healthy ( mouth closed and small white lines from mouth), and eats, but wont fully open.

Bcountry took the words out of my mouth. Magnesium levels need to be correct before you ever dose for Cal or Alk. You should only raise Alk about .5 per day.
